Why The Alliance Party?

TAP aims to create a functioning government that can solve problems, build a coalition so people work together, and through partnerships move the country forward for everyone.

A growing majority of us are increasingly convinced that we don’t see the two narrowly defined and competing choices that have historically been provided to us as viable. Americans are fed up with the gridlock and inadequacy provided by the Republican and Democratic Duopoly.

The American Party, initially certified by the state of South Carolina in January of 2014, has garnered nearly 200,000 votes from South Carolina voters in its brief time on the ballot. Many of these voters are disgruntled former Republicans and Democrats, but the majority are long time or newly declared Independents.

In 1992, a group of Minnesota citizens established a brand new political party  The Independence Party. These bold, visionary citizens were not part of the political elite, captains of industry, or members of the idle rich looking to fill some time. They were ordinary citizens whose disgust with constant budget deficits, big money special interest influence, and extreme ideological dominance forced them to action.

They started a political party grounded in core principles of direct service and accountability to the people, whose government can and will budget responsibly and deliver withing its means, and whose endorsed candidates and elected representatives serve the people first, not the party. This party would not be governed by extremists or big (special interest) money, but by reasonable, effective approaches to public policy issues.

The Minnesota Party has recently joined The Alliance Party. They have a history of successes, with highlights including:

1998 – Election of Governor Jesse Ventura: Former Mayor of Brooklyn Park, westler and talk radio personality Jesse Ventura shocks the world by winning the office of Governor with 36.99% of the vote.

2002 – State Legislative Victory: State Senator Sheila Kiscaden leaves the Republican Party for the IP and is re-elected to the Minnesota State Senate with more than 41% of the vote in a 3-way race.

2002 – Dean Barkley Appointed to U.S. Senate: Following the death of Sen. Paul Wellstone in an October 25 plane crash, on Nov. 4, 2002, Governor Jesse Ventura appoints Dean Barkely to complete the Senate term. Barkley serves until Jan. 3, 2003.

2008 – IP Large Factor in U.S. Senate Recont: Dean Barkely runs for U.S. Senate and receives 15.15% (more than 435,000 votes). Certified results put incumbent Norm Coleman ahead of Al Franken by 215 votes out of nearly 2 million cast (a .007% difference). A certified recount on January 5, 2009 gives Fraken a 225 vote lead. Sen. Coleman sues and the court rules on April 13, 2009 that Franken’s lead is actually 312 votes. Coleman drops the case and Fraken is sworn in as U.S. Senator on July 7, 2009, more than six months after the end of Coleman’s term on January 3, 2009.

2016 – First Presidential Candidate in 20 Years: The party endorses Evan McMullin, a former CIA agent and former chief policy director for the House Republican Conference, for President and gather more than the required 2000 valid signatures in 8.5 days to get him onto the ballet. McMullin receives more than 53,000 votes in Minnesota.

On October 14, 2018 a group of successful independent state political organizations joined together to create The Alliance Party. TAP is a new political party with a modern, centrist leaning, fiscally responsible, common sense, nonpartisan, problem solving agenda.

The Alliance Party

is a New Politcal Party.

We are witnessing the demise of the Political Duopoly in America. It is disappearing because of the damage it is doing to our national unity and its inability to meet new challenges, solve long standing problems and provide equal opportunity to our citizens.

Please consider joining our effort to get the Alliance Party on the ballot in all 50 states and to give Independents and disillusioned Democrats and Republicans a new choice.
