Our Values
TAP's principles and governing philosophy can be summed up in three words:
Unity, Community & Responsibility
1. UNITY, AND THEREFORE COMMUNITY
Our citizens and voters are all Americans first. We have more in common with each To unify our country, we use civility, respect and ethics in communicating with each other in our political discourse and in our lives. America’s backbone is strong communities, where we are united as neighbors in our common goals. We must again know our neighbors by working together, across different ethnic, religious, gender and political spectrum’s – beyond towns, cities and states – to build our communities and unify our country.
2. RESPONSIBILITY
Americans must take responsibility for our future. Responsibility informs fiscal, social, civic and environmental actions and behaviors. As Allies, we recognize that we owe this same responsibility to each other. We support an inclusive capitalism, which emphasizes a bottom line where people, planet and profit intersect in a way that leaves our society and the world better than we found it.
3. ACCOUNTABILITY
The Alliance believes honesty and integrity are essential to public service, and accountability and transparency lie at the heart of this organization. We hold our candidates accountable to deliver on their promises to their voters. And, we support the free press, which must hold itself accountable for fair, truthful, accurate and unbiased reporting, as an essential body that holds all in government accountable.
4. FAIRNESS
The Alliance believes honesty and integrity are essential to public service, and Fairness is a universal desire, something we all seek and understand on a gut level. Every American has a right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness free from favoritism or discrimination. We must restore fairness in politics, and with fairness, we can fix a rigged system, so everyone plays by the same rules.
5. INTEGRITY
The Alliance Party is built on a foundation of integrity, transparency and truthfulness. We promise to be trustworthy in all things, earning America’s trust by what we do, and not by what we say. The world still looks to America to lead, and integrity is where this leadership must start.
6. CIVILITY
Success in building community, taking responsibility, applying fairness and accountability and demonstrating integrity requires civility. Civility is more than politeness; it challenges deeply ingrained notions of us and them and having the courage to listen to and seek to understand those with whom we profoundly disagree. Civility is the baseline of respect that we owe to one another.
19 Positions
The Alliance Party is a New Political Party.
Our party hopes, beliefs, and demands are stated in our 19 Positions:
1. We stand for the freedoms, rights and the balance of power among the three branches of government as defined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. These branches are separate but equal, and each branch has special responsibilities concerning laws and the principals that govern our Nation.
2. We demand fiscal responsibility at all levels of government including a balanced budget, lower national debt, eliminating waste in government, more citizen input to government investments, more transparency in how taxpayer dollars are spent and oversight roles for public Controllers. We want to strengthen the rules that require federal expenditures to be funded at the time the expenditures are approved.
3. We believe a strong 21 st century economy requires significant investments in a modern infrastructure, renewable energy manufacturing, the transition to sustainable energy, housing and transportation and more direct and creative solutions to poverty and income inequality.
4. We seek greater social justice through active support for criminal justice reform, family law reform, immigration reform, fair treatment of asylum seekers and equal rights for all Americans. We support reasonable pathways to citizenship for those law-abiding persons in the Country without legal residency status and support strong borders. We recognize the lack of opportunity and justice from our legacy of slavery and realities of racism.
5. We seek bold environmental standards for clean water and clean air. We hold people, corporations and government agencies accountable for all the ways they contaminate our water, air, soil and food (including Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances). We seek systemic solutions for everyday poisons in our medicines, clothes, furniture and work gear.
6. We recognize the growing threat of climate change not just to our shores, but to the economy as well.
7. We believe in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) educational framework to guide the urgent reform of K-12 public education. We seek a strong public school system that encourages innovation, rigor and success for all children including expanded early childhood education. We must elevate our nation’s teaching force and reinvent how schools are funded.
8. Quality healthcare must be made affordable and accessible to all Americans. Creativity and consensus are essential to achieving this complex and challenging objective that must include prevention, healthy lifestyles and nutritious food. We see the need to update the Standard American Diet (SAD) guideline for the general public and to implement better dietary choices for public school standards.
9. To maintain and improve the quality and nutritional value of our nation’s food supply, government policies and programs must include the needs and voices of family-owned farms, ranches, and fishing operations. We call for legislative hearings on how federal policies force farmers to accept payments below their cost of production.
10. We support our veterans, the legislative goals of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA.org) demands for world-class health and mental health services for all veterans, the significance of programs where veterans help veterans (such as Wounded Warriors). We recognize the unfair burden America has placed on a very few to defend the freedoms of us all.
11. We call for foreign policies that balance military strength, diplomatic wisdom, peace building across all domains and foreign investments in sustainable economic development. We seek to reverse policies leading us to endless wars. We believe that Congress has abdicated its responsibility in regards to War Powers and must be accountable for the decision to send our troops into future conflicts.
12. We believe in fair trade, free trade when reasonable and support strong trade agreements with partners and allies around the world. We support technology reform that honors citizens as the suppliers of data that make our digital economy work. By treating data as labor and re-defining property rights to include personal data, we aim for a functioning economy that recognizes all our contributions and where the value of the digital technology is shared more broadly to spur innovation and economic growth.
13. We support the rules of Net Neutrality, mandating that broadband companies and other internet service providers (ISPs) treat Internet traffic equally and not discriminate between different bits of data in recognition that internet access is a nationwide public utility.
14. We believe in strong, unequivocal support for the 2 nd Amendment, coupled with responsible, reasonable regulations and programs that can improve the safety of all Americans without interfering with the right to bear arms established by the 2nd Amendment.
15. We believe in term limits for all elected representatives.
16. We believe a free press is vital to a healthy democracy, and we condemn any attempts by government officials to intimidate, deride, obstruct or undermine the critical role of the press.
17. We believe in comprehensive tax reform to acquire a simpler, fairer tax system that supports economic growth and encourages work, savings and investment.
18. We support rank choice voting along with election reform including efforts to stop elected officials from re-drawing their districts to benefit their political party (gerrymandering), and efforts calling for financial transparency, open political debates, open primaries, citizen ability to recall elected officials for misconduct, and easier access to voting for all citizens.
19. We require financial transparency, term limits and ethical, citizen-led decision making and open, honest communication from The Alliance Party officials and candidates.
